Strategic AI - 5 Step Process
1. Build a Business Case
The recent AI gold rush is creating FOMO in boardrooms. While there are many compelling business applications for AI, investments are high, and a well-thought-out cost-benefit analysis is a must.
2. Become a Learning Organization
At the moment the most important AI initiative for most organizations is learning. A good practice is to create an AI Center of Excellence composed of business and IT resources responsible for driving the knowledge base across the organization.
3. Start Experimenting
Build a sandbox, develop a small team of technical and subject matter experts and place emphasis on learning how to combine the technology with the human capabilities required to optimize for value and risk.
4. Prioritize
There are many opportunities to introduce AI capabilities across functional areas within an organization. The key is to take a holistic approach across the enterprise and think strategically about where AI could bring the most benefit.
5. Scale
A new digital operating model based on large amounts of data and AI algorithms are providing organizations the ability to operate at large scale with capabilities that overwhelm traditional operating models. When the organization is ready, scaling brings outstanding returns.
